More about .museum

Museum Domain Management Association
The .museum Registry

.museum
The Museum Community's Internet Domain

A restricted, top-level domain name (TLD) has been established as .museum to provide a distinct identity on the Internet that transcends traditional museum information exchange venues.

  • Sharing A Common Principle
.museum registrants engage in knowledge sharing and broaden access to their most valued cultural and scientific treasures through dissemination of those resources across the World Wide Web.
  • Providing Added Value
.museum registration assures that individual museums have a place on the Internet and receive an authentic and meaningful identity. The new domain will put all museums - regardless of expertise, size of collections of level of funding - on equal footing for opportunities on the Internet.
  • Having A Voice
Through membership in the Museum Domain Management Association (MuseDoma) registrants of the .museum TLD will have the opportunity to voice concerns and offer suggestions for establishment of the domain's management process.
  • Technology Meets Culture
By securing a .museum TLD, museums from all reaches of the globe will benefit from the resources Internet technology provides and, eventually, a suite of services designed to help the global museum community as a whole.
  • History In The Making
Registrants of .museum have the unique opportunity to take part in the first sponsored TLD for the cultural and scientific communities.
