Description: OSDMA strives to promote a culture of disaster prevention, planning, and preparedness in the state of Orissa, which is vulnerable to natural disasters such as droughts, floods and cyclones, and, a variety of man-made disasters. With the objective of making the people of the State more disaster resilient, OSDMA co-ordinates various types of disaster mitigation activities including capacity building of the community and the disaster managers, strengthening of infrastructure, etc. OSDMA works in close co-ordination with Government of India and its agencies, Government of Orissa, its various departments and agencies, the administration of all 30 districts of the State, local self government, communities, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), community-based organisations (CBOs), bilateral and multilateral aid agencies, U.N. agencies, governments of other states in the country, specialised disaster management organisations and institutions. It seeks to forge a stronger alliance with all of them with a view to making Orissa disaster resilient.

Description: SEED, The Sustainable Environment and Ecological Development Society Description: The Sustainable Environment and Ecological Development Society (SEEDS) is a voluntary organisation registered under the Societies Act of India. The SEEDS team comprises a group of young professionals drawn from development related fields. In addition, there is a panel of senior associates and young volunteers facilitating the various programs. Since its inception, SEEDS has been working on the path to the ideal habitat for communities - a habitat that is sustainable and safe.

Description: The rise in urban risks, prompted by communities that are increasingly willing to live in vulnerable situations for economic reasons, has gained a significant role in urban planning today. Contribution to this site and practice elsewhere, show risk reduction as a path to larger urban planning and development issues. Methods such as Action Planning an concepts such as the Urban Risk - Urban Poverty link need to be talked about a lot more. To this end, the Urban Risk Forum proposes to be a platform for exchange of ideas and experiences, debates and deliberations on urban risk related issues. The forum, through innovative efforts, also proposes to publish and disseminate information material on Urban Risk.
