Ce livre retrace l’expérience du musée précaire Albinet – Quartier du Landy, à Aubervilliers, Seine Saint-Denis, conduite par l’artiste suisse Thomas Hirschhorn. Du 19 avril au 14 juin 2004, l’artiste installait dans une structure temporaire les œuvres de huit artistes majeurs du XXe siècle choisis par lui en raison de leur caractère utopique (Beuys, Dali, Duchamp, Le Corbusier, Léger, Malevitch, Mondrian et Warhol) prêtées par le Musée national d'art moderne et le Fonds national d'art contemporain. Il était assisté par douze jeunes du quartier préalablement formés au Centre Georges Pompidou ou à la Biennale d'art contemporain de Lyon, qui se sont chargés de la construction du musée, du transport, du déballage et de l’accrochage des œuvres, de la médiation, l'information.
